HARPERS FERRY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Harpers Ferry will join dozens of other municipalities in West Virginia in going to the polls on June 13 to choose new leaders. There is one thing, however, that make the elections in the Corporation (as the town is known) Harpers Ferry unique.
While most towns in West Virginia have terms of four years for mayor, council, etc.; all offices in Harpers Ferry are still for two-year terms.
Mayor
Incumbent Mayor Greg Vaughn is unopposed for a second two-year term at the helm of Harpers Ferry. This is Vaughn’s second stint as mayor.
Recorder
Kevin Carden will seek his eighth term as recorder but will be challenged by political newcomer, Nina Ana Armstrong.
City Council
Four members of council are seeking reelection; Chris Craig, Storm DiCostanzo, Jerry Hutton, and Christian Pechuekonis. One member, Laurel Drake, is not seeking another term.
They will be challenged by George Owens , Roberta N. Meade-Curry, 2021 runner-up Zachary Morse, and Bryan Gray. Voters can select up to five choices and the top five vote-getters will be the winners.
