BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley Events announced Tuesday the dates and locations for the city’s 21st annual Juneteenth Celebration and Barbeque festival event.
Things will kick off on Saturday, June 18 at 10:00am with acknowledgements and remembrance to be held at Hunters Cemetery, located at the corner of Antonio Ave and Lemp Lane.
Then at New River Park, following prayer by Pastor Tyler Coleman, an 11:30am proclamation will be presented by Beckley Mayor Rob Rappold. Fun and games will be available throughout the day, along with on-site COVID testing provided by NAACP/PAAC (Shannon Robinson – Project Manager.)
1:00pm will see the Legacy of Juneteenth presentation by Youth of Beckley, followed by a 1:15 Praise Dance and spoken word from Cliff Montgomery at 2:30pm.
On Sunday, June 19 an awards dinner and dance will be held at the Beckley Women’s Club, located at 202 Park Avenue, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Advance tickets to this event will be $10, and tickets purchased at the door will be $15.
Vendors are currently being sought for these events, and the vendor fee will be $50. Food and monetary donations are also being accepted, as is time from anyone interested in volunteering to help out for these local events.
