BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Residents of two Eastern Panhandle counties are warned to be alert to a Maryland garbage collector not certificated in West Virginia.
The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued the alert on Friday concerning B&E Trash of Adamstown, MD.
Customers affected are in Jefferson and Berkeley counties.
“B&E Trash is not a certificated motor carrier in West Virginia,” according to PSC officials.
This company is not regulated or certificated by the PSC, so the Commission is unable to act on complaints filed against the company.
In-state trash haulers have to be certificated by the Commission to do business in the Mountain State.
They are regulated by the PSC.
Commission staff has received complaints from customers, who report that B&E Trash offers trash pickup in Berkeley and Jefferson counties for a very reasonable annual fee, but the entire fee must be paid up-front.
Customers who have paid in full say the company collected their trash for a few weeks, then it stopped completely.
Those customers are now left with no recourse at the PSC to force the company to either honor its commitment or refund their money.
