SHINNSTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey visited Lincoln Middle School on Tuesday to sign two education-focused bills aimed at reducing distractions in classrooms and promoting national values.
Joined by students, legislators, and supporters, Morrisey signed House Bill 2003 and Senate Bill 280.

House Bill 2003 gives local County Boards of Education the authority to ban personal electronic devices during class time.
Senate Bill 280 requires all public schools and institutions of higher education in the state to display the national motto, “In God We Trust.”
“As Governor, one of my top priorities is to improve West Virginia’s educational rankings,” said Governor Morrisey.
“To do that, we must focus on academics and remove classroom distractions. The bills I signed today will help ensure a brighter future for students in the Mountain State.”
