BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A domestic disturbance on South Indian Fork Road escalated into a violent confrontation Thursday evening, resulting in the arrest of Sarah Kennedy, who is accused of smashing windows with a crescent wrench, threatening her father, resisting arrest, and making threats against law enforcement.
At approximately 4:37 p.m., the Barbour County Communications Center dispatched officers to S. Indian Fork Road following a 911 call from David Kennedy, who reported that his daughter was destroying property and threatening him with a crescent wrench.
When deputies arrived on scene, they witnessed Sarah Kennedy on the front porch. As officers approached, she briefly retreated into the house but soon re-emerged, yelling and screaming. She initially complied with commands to be detained, but officers observed visible damage to the home’s front windows, allegedly caused by the wrench.
Once in handcuffs, Kennedy reportedly became combative, pulled away, and refused multiple commands as officers tried to search her and secure her in the patrol vehicle. Officers had to apply ankle restraints after she unbuckled her seatbelt and refused to cooperate further.
While en route to Tygart Valley Regional Jail, Kennedy allegedly kicked the arresting officer twice in the elbow while he was driving, and made graphic threats against his life and the lives of his family members. According to the officer, she said she would have people “kill you and your family” and added, “I’ll be there to watch you be buried.”
Kennedy was booked into Tygart Valley Regional Jail, where she is being held pending further court proceedings. Charges are expected to include domestic assault, destruction of property, obstruction, battery on a law enforcement officer, and making terroristic threats.
