LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS)— A warrant service turned chaotic in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 9, when officers attempted to arrest a Virginia fugitive at a home on Rowan Road.
At approximately 12:01 a.m., authorities arrived at 245 Rowan Road to apprehend Clifford Taylor Lee, who was wanted out of Montgomery County, Virginia. When officers knocked, they were invited inside and made contact with Lee. Once outside, officers informed him of the outstanding warrants and advised he was under arrest.
Lee, however, refused to comply and quickly became combative. As officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, Lee resisted arrest, punching one officer in the face and slamming a door into another’s head during the struggle. The fight moved inside the residence before escalating further.
Despite repeated warnings, Lee continued to resist, leading officers to deploy a Taser. Although the initial taser use momentarily subdued him, Lee managed to flee the house while pulling up his shorts. He was tased again in the front yard but continued to resist arrest.
The pursuit continued down the side of the house where Lee fell to the ground. Additional deputies from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Lewisburg Police Department responded to the scene and assisted in finally securing Lee.
Clifford Taylor Lee was arrested on the outstanding Virginia warrants and now faces additional charges in West Virginia, including Obstructing an Officer, Battery on an Officer, and Fleeing on Foot.
