DELBARTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Mingo County man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly ramming a parked vehicle multiple times, then chasing and assaulting the vehicle’s owner with a handgun in a brazen attack outside the One Stop gas station in Delbarton.
Police were called to the scene on August 1 after a 911 call reported a white Ford truck repeatedly striking a parked Chevy S-10 in the store’s lot. The victim, Paul Strickland, came outside to investigate and was allegedly confronted by the suspect, identified as Evan A. Hall.
According to authorities, Hall exited his truck with a .38 caliber revolver in hand and chased Strickland back into the store. Once inside, witnesses say Hall struck Strickland in the face with the handgun, causing cuts and swelling. Bystanders inside the store had to intervene to stop the attack.
The violent confrontation occurred in front of multiple witnesses, including people pumping gas outside, who were put at risk due to Hall allegedly brandishing a loaded weapon.
Police quickly issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert. Hall and his vehicle — a white Ford truck with Kentucky temporary tags — were located approximately 20 minutes later during a traffic stop. He was taken into custody without further incident. Hall voluntarily gave officers written consent to search his home, where a Taurus .38 caliber revolver was recovered from a bedroom shelf.
The damaged Chevy S-10, belonging to Strickland, reportedly sustained about $3,000 in damage during the incident.
Evan Hall now faces multiple serious charges including:
-
Malicious assault
-
Wanton endangerment
-
Destruction of property
-
Assault during the commission of a felony
-
Brandishing a deadly weapon
