BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Beckley and community partners will host the 32nd Annual Kids Classic Festival from September 1–6, offering a full week of family-friendly events and activities.
The festival begins on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, with a home run derby at Beckley Little League.
Ages 8 and up can participate for a $5 entry fee, with medals and cash prizes awarded in multiple age categories. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., and the derby begins at 6 p.m. (rain date is Sunday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m.). Concessions will be provided by the WV Wolfpack team with SnoBiz.

Throughout the week, Leisure Lanes will offer a special for children: one free game of bowling and shoe rental when accompanied by a paying adult, available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Salvation Army on Robert C. Byrd Drive will host an Open House from 5:30–7:30 p.m., featuring activities like basketball, pickleball, and tours of the facility.
On Thursday, Sept. 4, The Pottery Place will hold a canvas painting party at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $10.
Friday evening activities include a special event at the Youth Museum and Exhibition Mine from 6–8 p.m. Highlights feature a free magic show by Funnybones at the amphitheater, balloon animals, games, and a planetarium show. Admission to the museum and mine tour will be discounted to $5.
The week concludes with the Saturday Street Fair on Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Beckley. Booths, games, giveaways, and performances will line the sidewalks.
Featured attractions include the Beckley Fire Department’s Junior Firefighters Challenge, a Cincinnati Circus performance, and the United Showcase with inflatables and games for $5.

Cookie Stacking Contest hosted by 103CIR and WVU Tech, with registration from 10 a.m. to noon. A drawing will determine teams for the 12:15 p.m. contest. WVU Tech students will also stage an engineering-themed cookie stacking exhibition.

PAR-TEE Mini Golf Course, sponsored by Seed Sowers, debuting this year in Shoemaker Square.

Kids Fest Parade at 11 a.m., featuring festival royalty, mascots, bands, bagpipers, and costumed participants. Entries are still being accepted, and trophies will be awarded for Founder’s Choice, People’s Choice, Most Exciting, and Most Creative.

A showing of the Minecraft movie at 1:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre, with tickets available for $5.

Raleigh County Library events including Lego building throughout the week and an apple-themed craft on Saturday afternoon while supplies last.
Festival organizers expressed appreciation to event hosts, participants, and supporters, including the WV Division of Culture, Arts & History’s Fairs and Festivals grant and Mac’s Toy Fund.
