CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A memorial and prayer vigil will be held Thursday, September 18, at 6 p.m. at Riverside at the West Virginia State Capitol in honor of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 10.
The event will include participation from Governor Patrick Morrisey, local pastors, and representatives from Turning Point USA.

Organizers are encouraging the public to join and share the invitation with family and friends.
In a video posted to social media, Governor Morrisey remembered Kirk as a friend and praised his advocacy for free speech and conservative causes.
“Charlie Kirk was a friend of mine,” Morrisey said. “He came out and campaigned for me. At the time, we knew he was an incredible young man… Charlie would go into the toughest environments, and he would debate. He would take on the left, he would talk about issues, but he did it in a respectful manner. And then he was assassinated because he had those political beliefs, and because he was such an effective advocate for conservative causes. Charlie Kirk was a martyr, but we can honor his memory by going out and practicing what he preached.”
Morrisey encouraged attendees and supporters to continue Kirk’s work by engaging in civil political debate and supporting Turning Point USA.
“Take the time to debate people and to get to know them, but treat them the right way. That’s the Charlie Kirk way,” Morrisey said.
The vigil is open to the public, and organizers hope it will serve as both a memorial and a call to continue Kirk’s advocacy for conservative principles.
