PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Derek Laxton, announced today that Ronald Jackson “Poncho” Sinecoff, 53, of Pineville, was convicted of possessing child pornography.
Sinecoff’s potential sentencing exposure is not less than five nor more than twenty years in prison.
This conviction is a result of an investigation into Sinecoff by Sgt. Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Sizemore, after obtaining a search warrant, recovered a cellphone owned by Sinecoff and discovered child pornography on the cellphone. He was then arrested, indicted, and has now been convicted of possessing child pornography.
In addition to facing the potential five to twenty years in prison, Sinecoff will have to register for life as a sex offender.
Laxton said of this investigation, “This case showcases the hard work, dedication, and skill employed by Sgt. Tyler Sizemore in his work on crimes against children in Wyoming County. It also further emphasizes the commitment made by Sheriff Ellison and the Sheriff’s Office to combat crimes against children. In addition to ensuring Sgt. Sizemore has the necessary training in this area of criminal investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has also recently gained access to technology that allows instant downloads of offenders’ cellphone content, so crimes such as the one committed by Sinecoff can be investigated swiftly and thoroughly.”
Sinecoff is currently incarcerated in the Southern Regional Jail pending sentencing, which will take place on February 17th at 1:30 in the Wyoming County Courthouse in Pineville.
