WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia Congresswoman Carol Miller issued a public statement this week reacting to the ongoing federal criminal case against Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, who is currently facing U.S. charges related to drug trafficking and narco-terrorism.
Maduro was recently brought to the United States following a U.S. operation and has appeared in federal court, where he has pleaded not guilty.

The case remains in the early stages, and no trial date has yet been set. Prosecutors allege that Maduro played a central role in facilitating large-scale drug trafficking operations that sent narcotics into the United States.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Miller addressed the possibility of a conviction and sentencing, referencing a potential place of incarceration:
“After Nicolás Maduro is convicted by an American jury, he can serve his life sentence at FCI Beckley, incarcerated around the families that are torn apart by his drug trafficking. He will find a just reception from his fellow inmates in West Virginia.”
Federal sentencing decisions, including prison placement, are ultimately determined by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and the federal court system.
Maduro’s arrest and prosecution have sparked international debate, with some foreign governments criticizing the U.S. action and others supporting efforts to hold him accountable for alleged criminal activity.
