MONROE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Friday, February 27, at approximately 9:40 am, two fishermen discovered a burnt Ford Focus and a deceased human body in the Shanklin’s Ferry area of Monroe County.
First Sergeant S. S. Keaton and Trooper First Class N. C. Patton responded to the scene, where they observed the burnt vehicle along with a male subject lying on the riverbank. The male was identified as James Jeffries, 55, of Peterstown, WV. At this time, Mr. Jeffries’ death is being investigated as a homicide.
Mr. Jeffries body was sent to the WV State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The victims’ next of kin have been notified.
West Virginia State Police crime scene team responded and assisted with the investigation.
This investigation is still ongoing.
