ORIGINAL STORY 3/8/2026: OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people have been charged after stealing campaign signs in Fayette County.
According to court records, two individuals were charged after stealing two campaign signs from a local business in downtown Oak Hill.
The incident occurred on February 26, 2026.
Brandon Gray, candidate for Fayette County Circuit Court Judge, stated that the two signs stolen were his.
He thanked the Oak Hill Police Department for investigating the incident and called out the suspects.
“I would like to thank the Oak Hill Police Department for their outstanding work. Last week I had [two] signs stolen from B&B Glass. Officer Hart investigated the matter by combing through surveillance videos of the area to identify the suspect’s license plate number,” Gray said.
“This is disgusting behavior that violates the landowners right to free speech. I know it’s just [two] signs but it is a violation of the democratic process that bothers me so. They should be ashamed.”
The incident was captured on a security camera, and police were able to identify the license plate of the vehicle involved.
Following an investigation, police were able to identify the suspects as 40-year-old Terry Joe Holbrook and 39-year-old Aaron Thomas Welch.
Warrants were issued for their arrest and both were successfully arrested on March 6, 2026.
Both have been charged with one count of petit larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor against the state.
