BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A protest connected to a national movement known as “No Kings” is scheduled to take place later this month in the Beckley area as part of demonstrations planned across West Virginia and throughout the United States.
According to organizers, the event titled “No Kings Beckley WV” is part of a broader effort that began in 2025 and has expanded into a series of demonstrations in communities across the country.
The protest will take place on Saturday, March 28, from 12-2 PM at the corner of Robert C Byrd Drive & Neville Street.
The movement describes itself as a national effort aimed at defending democratic institutions and opposing what organizers characterize as government overreach.
Organizers describe the event by stating: “We have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.”
Event organizers say the movement began as a single day of protests last year but has since grown into what they call a nationwide campaign.
The description of the Beckley event states, “What began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever.”
Participants are expected to gather on March 28, when organizers are encouraging supporters to attend demonstrations nationwide.
The event description states, “On March 28th, rise up, take to the streets, and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us.”
Organizers say the protests will emphasize peaceful participation.
The event listing notes that “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”
In addition to Beckley, demonstrations connected to the No Kings movement are planned in several other West Virginia communities.
According to organizers, protests are scheduled in Lewisburg, Bluefield, Charleston, Huntington, New Martinsville, Wheeling, Elkins, Thomas, Keyser, Romney, Wardensville, Berkeley Springs, and Charles Town.
