Officials are asking motorists to avoid the 4500 block of Robert C. Byrd Drive near Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School following a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning.
According to Beckley-Raleigh County Emergency Services, the crash involved a vehicle striking a power pole in the area. The collision caused a power outage and knocked out traffic lights nearby.
Authorities said traffic is heavily backed up as crews respond to the scene.
Law enforcement officers and utility crews have been notified and are working in the area.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible until the scene is cleared and power is restored.
