GRANVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are investigating after a body was recovered from the Monongahela River in Granville on Saturday morning.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area at approximately 11:06 a.m. on June 13 after receiving reports of a body in the river.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and located the body in the water approximately 200 to 300 yards north of the Granville boat ramp. The individual was recovered from the river.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. Assisting agencies at the scene included the Granville Police Department, the West Virginia State Police, Monongalia County EMS and the Granville Fire Department.
Officials said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains active and ongoing. The identity of the individual and the cause of death have not been released.
