WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man is facing multiple felony charges after state police say he fired several rounds into a vehicle during an argument over an alleged debt.
According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers responded around 1:17 p.m. on May 24 to a reported shooting in Wyoming County. Dispatchers advised that the suspected shooter had fled the area in a maroon SUV and it was initially unknown whether anyone had been injured.
When troopers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said Christopher Lee York came to his residence to confront him about money he allegedly owed.
Investigators said the confrontation escalated, and York allegedly fired several rounds from a 9mm handgun into the victim’s vehicle.
Troopers recovered three spent 9mm shell casings at the scene.
After gathering information, officers searched an area where dispatchers had received reports York had been dropped off but were unable to locate him.
A review of York’s criminal history revealed multiple felony convictions, including a 2023 burglary conviction in McDowell County. Because of those convictions, investigators allege York is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Troopers are seeking warrants charging York with wanton endangerment involving a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and domestic assault.
The incident occurred in Wyoming County.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
