ROMNEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue investigating a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Hampshire County woman.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Trooper M.T. Overbaugh of the Romney Detachment responded to the area of U.S. Route 50 near Family Dollar in Romney at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, following a report of a hit-and-run crash.
Police said Deborah L. Edwards, 64, died from injuries she sustained after being struck by a vehicle while crossing U.S. Route 50.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals shown in an attached photo. State police are also asking anyone who was in the area that evening, heard vehicle horns being blown, or recognizes any of the individuals to contact the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment at 304-822-3561.
The investigation remains ongoing.
