FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County woman is accused of striking her neighbor in the head with a crowbar and continuing to attack her after she lost consciousness.
According to a criminal complaint, deputies responded to a panic alarm along Mossy Milburn Road shortly after 5:30 p.m. on August 17. While traveling to the scene, the responding deputy learned of a second call reporting an altercation between neighbors.
Deputies identified Dionne Owens as the alleged attacker.
Owens reportedly told investigators that she and her neighbor had argued and that the neighbor attacked her. Owens admitted picking up a crowbar and swinging it but denied hitting the woman, according to the complaint.
When the deputy spoke with the alleged victim at a nearby residence, she was reportedly covered in blood. She told investigators that she had been performing yardwork when Owens struck her in the back of the head with a crowbar, causing her to lose consciousness.
The woman alleged that when she regained consciousness, Owens continued kicking and biting her while threatening to kill her.
The deputy reported observing a head wound, an injury to the woman’s hand or wrist and muddy footprints on her back and leg.
During a search near Owens’ home, investigators reportedly found a crowbar concealed beneath several items near a door leading to the area where the altercation allegedly occurred. The crowbar had a red substance believed to be blood on its handle and tip, according to the complaint.
The crowbar was seized as evidence.
Owens was arrested, processed at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and transported to Southern Regional Jail.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and Owens is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
