OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oceana man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Wyoming-McDowell Crimes Against Children Task Force.
According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, members of the task force arrested 41-year-old Roger Dean Belcher Jr. at approximately 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11.
Belcher is charged with six counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and six counts of second-degree sexual assault.
Authorities said the charges stem from a complaint received by the Crimes Against Children Task Force in May 2026.
During the investigation, Sgt. Tyler B. Sizemore allegedly learned that Belcher had sexually assaulted and sexually abused a female juvenile over a period of approximately six years, according to the sheriff’s department.
Belcher is being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $600,000 cash-only bond.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department noted that all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
