THURMOND, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A loaded coal train has derailed in New River Gorge National Park & Preserve.
Railroad crews will have a decent cleanup and repair job on their hands following the derailment of a coal train in the historic town of Thurmond.
The derailment occurred late Monday night.
The train that derailed was an RJ Corman coal train from the Alpha coal loadout in Pax.
RJ Corman was bringing the train onto the CSX mainline at Thurmond where sources say approximately 10 cars derailed.
Rail crews from CSX and RJ Corman are on scene working the derailment.
