BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Bluefield man faces domestic battery, strangulation and child abuse charges after allegedly attacking his wife and their 16-year-old daughter, who tried to intervene.
Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a home on Willow Street on Saturday, October 3, 2026. According to the police report, Sgt. H. Browning encountered two juvenile girls outside before approaching the home, where a man was yelling at someone inside.
The man, identified as Christopher Loucks, stepped outside and was placed in handcuffs. Browning reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from Loucks.
Inside, the officer found Loucks’ wife sitting on a bed, visibly upset and showing signs of a physical altercation.
She told police the argument began after she asked their daughter to come downstairs and listen to music. According to her statement, Loucks had been drinking and became argumentative before shoving and hitting her, knocking her to the ground.
Loucks then allegedly strangled her until she could not breathe. When their 16-year-old daughter intervened, he reportedly shoved the teenager several times and struck her in the chest with the palm of his hand.
The teenager broke free and fled the home with her younger sister, according to the report. Browning also reported observing marks on the wife’s face that supported her account.
Loucks was arrested and taken to the Bluefield Police Department. During booking, a breath sample registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17, police said.
He faces two counts of domestic battery, one count of strangulation and one count of child abuse.
