FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County man is accused of throwing his girlfriend’s phone from a moving vehicle, pushing her onto a bed and threatening to knock her unconscious during a domestic altercation.
According to a criminal complaint from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy responded to the reported incident on October 8, 2026. The woman said the altercation began the previous day while she and her boyfriend, identified as Jermaine Hines, were at work in Fayetteville.
The woman told investigators Hines became upset after she did not introduce him to her former in-laws. He allegedly took her vehicle keys and told her she would have to walk home.
She ultimately left with Hines, who allegedly continued threatening her during the drive. When she indicated she intended to contact law enforcement, Hines reportedly grabbed her cellphone and threw it out of the window while they were traveling on the interstate.
After arriving home, the woman said she tried to leave because she was afraid. Hines allegedly pushed her onto a bed, prevented her from leaving and threatened to knock her unconscious.
She also reported that Hines grabbed her hand and wrist with enough force that she feared he would break her hand. She told the deputy she was “scared for my life.”
The woman reported no visible bruising but said she remained afraid for her safety.
Investigators said they discovered three prior domestic violence convictions involving Hines in Ohio, dated August 1996, December 2001 and April 2004. The complaint identifies the current allegation as third-offense domestic battery.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and Hines is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
