FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A missing Texas man was found dead Thursday morning near the Prince Train Station in Fayette County following an apparent dirt bike crash.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department was notified Thursday morning, October 29, of a missing person report filed in Raleigh County involving Paul Alexander Kirkland, 35, of Caddo Mills, Texas.
Deputies were asked to be on the lookout for Kirkland.
At approximately 8 a.m., a CSX employee walking along the railroad tracks discovered Kirkland deceased near the Prince Train Station.
According to the preliminary investigation, Kirkland was traveling northbound on Route 41 on a dirt bike sometime Wednesday night when he apparently lost control while coming out of a curve near the railroad tracks.
The dirt bike struck a tree, ejecting Kirkland. Authorities said he suffered fatal head and neck injuries and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators believe the crash went undiscovered overnight because Kirkland and debris from the accident were located well off the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department extended its condolences to Kirkland’s family and loved ones.
