CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) will begin mailing applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) on Monday, November 2, 2026, to help eligible households with heating costs.
The department’s Bureau for Family Assistance will mail applications to households that received regular LIEAP benefits during the previous season and meet certain criteria, including households with children under age 6, adults age 60 and older, or individuals with disabilities.
The deadline to submit pre-LIEAP applications is November 25, 2026.
Applications can be returned by mail, dropped off at a local DoHS office, or completed online at www.wvpath.org.
Funding for the program is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Officials encourage eligible households to apply as early as possible.
Households using a Public Service Commission-regulated utility as their primary heating source must provide a current utility bill. Those using bulk fuels must submit verification of their fuel supplier along with a receipt.
