LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Major renovations are underway at the Greenbrier Valley Mall in Lewisburg as the property’s owners work toward restoring the shopping center to full operation following its condemnation earlier this year.
According to an announcement released Friday, October 30, Bright Construction is completing improvements to the building, including the installation of modern fire safety and HVAC systems and the replacement of the mall’s cedar shake exterior and towers.
The renovations are part of an effort by property owner Copper Leaf, LLC, to restore the mall as a fully functioning part of the Greenbrier Valley community.
The project follows the Greenbrier County Commission’s decision to condemn the building in May 2026 due to deficiencies in its fire suppression system.
Since then, the commission has conditionally lifted the condemnation order, allowing businesses to operate while repairs and improvements continue.
Three businesses currently remain open during construction, including Advance Auto Parts, Seneca Opticians (Dr. Tasso Butler) and Hollywood Nails. Hollywood Nails is also operating under new management.
Sam Argabright, owner of Bright Construction, said the improvements will bring significant changes to the property in the coming months.
“The building is being brought up to date with modern fire safety features and a new HVAC system, and the exterior is getting a full facelift,” said Sam Argabright, owner of Bright Construction. “The old cedar shakes and towers are coming off. People are going to see big changes by spring.”
Richard Ducharme, chief financial officer of Copper Leaf, LLC, said the company intends to return the property to regular use.
“It is our intention to restore the mall to a fully functioning part of the community,” said Richard Ducharme, CFO of Copper Leaf, LLC.
Grist Real Estate Associates is serving as the local liaison for Copper Leaf, coordinating with Bright Construction and handling inquiries from businesses interested in leasing available space at the mall.
W. Paul Grist, broker at Grist Real Estate Associates, said the project represents an opportunity to bring new activity to the longtime shopping center.
“The Greenbrier Valley Mall has been part of daily life here for decades, and we’re glad to help bring it back,” said W. Paul Grist, broker at Grist Real Estate Associates. “This is a good time for local businesses to look at the space.”
