MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after allegedly punching a woman, hitting vehicles in the middle of the roadway, and attacking a deputy.
According to Mercer County deputies, on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, a man went into someone’s yard, punched a female victim, and then fled on foot. The victim’s husband followed the suspect and told 911 that the suspect was standing in the middle of the road, refusing to allow traffic to pass, and was punching a stopped vehicle. A short time later, the suspect started hitting a truck and refusing to let the truck move. When a deputy arrived on the scene, the suspect attacked him. he attempted to get his hands around the deputy’s neck.
The deputy said the suspect was uncooperative and appeared to be intoxicated. He said he was likely on Meth due to his agitated and delirious state of mind.
The suspect was later identified at Joseph Wayne Barlow.
Barlow is charged with battery, battery on an officer, and obstructing. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 3,000 cash-only bond.
