OAK HILL – Class AAAA No. 1 George Washington outscored Oak Hill 14-2 in the second period and made it stand for a 54-39 win over the Red Devils at the Lilly Center Friday.
Last year’s state tournament game hero, Ben Nicol led the balanced Patriots scoring with 13 points, while Isaac McCallister added 11 and Brendon Hoffman scored nine.
Jacob Perdue had 14 for Oak Hill and Samuel Crist had 10. Ethan Vargo-Thomas scored eight.
Oak Hill (1-1) travels to Bluefield Tuesday.
