FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS)- On April 28, 2022, at approximately 8:53 pm, the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Route 16 (Court Street) south of Gatewood Road.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that a male 17 years of age had been struck.
Based on witness statements and observation of law enforcement at the scene, the juvenile was apparently riding a skateboard in the roadway when he was struck. This was in an unlit area of Court Street.
The juvenile was transported to a local hospital, and despite efforts from medical personnel, the juvenile did not survive. The driver remained on the scene and attempted to render aid.
This incident is still under investigation. The name of the driver or the juvenile will not be released.
The Fayetteville Fire Department and Jan Care Ambulance responded to this incident as well.
