Charleston – Noah Lewis made two late free-throws to help AAAA No. 3 George Washington escape with a 47-46 win over upset-minded Beckley.
The Flying Eagles trailed by five at the break before racing out to a 9-0 run to open the third quarter. Beckley had the one-point lead with under a minute to play before a forced turnover by the Patriots led to the game winning free-throws.
Beckley’s Elijah Redfern led all scorers with 22 points and Coby Dillon had 11, including three makes from behind the arc.
Brendon Hoffman scored 16 for G-Dub and Lewis ended with nine.
Beckley (4-6) hosts Princeton Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Greater Beckley Christian trailed Victory Baptist Academy after every quarter Monday, except the one that matter the most.
Down three points at the break and one after three quarters, the Crusaders outscored the Saints 28-22 over the final eight minutes for a thrilling 79-74 win.
John Rose led all scorers with 32 points for the Crusaders including 12 in the decisive fourth quarter. Rose was 6-for-6 from the line down the stretch and 11-of-12 overall at the charity stripe.
Averyk Woodson scored 16 for Greater Beckley and Aaron Hall added 11 points.
Micah Thomas paced Victory Baptist with 22, followed closely by Ethan Hunt with 20 points. Landon Cormican tallied 17 points and Noah Childers scored 11.

Nick Knox had 20 for West Logan, while Jacob Walls had 18 and Zay Sharrod scored 17 points.
Nolan Carney and Josiah McCoy led the Cavaliers with 28 points apiece.
