The Class AA State Champion Independence football team was honored Saturday afternoon at Golden Corral in Beckley.
The Patriots received state championship gear such as jackets, bags and beanies commemorating their historic feat.
Afterwards they were recognized at the WVU Tech basketball doubleheader a the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

The Patriots, who finished the season 12-0, defeated Herbert Hoover 42-7 Friday, Dec. 2 at Wheeling Island Stadium, earning the program’s firsts ate championship.
