The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the eighth week of the girls basketball season. Voting will close Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Harmony Mills, Independence – Mills helped Indy to a 2-1 record, scoring in double figures twice with a 20-point showing early in the week.
- Kayley Trump, Mercer Christian – Trump opened the week with a triple-double and sprinkled in a 43-point performance for the Cavaliers.
- Cadee Blackburn, Wyoming East – Blackburn continued to build upon her strong scoring numbers, adding performances of 21 and 17 points as Wyoming East topped Princeton and Bluefield.
- Abby Dillon, Beckley – Dillon and the Flying Eagles had a huge week. She scored 11 points in a victory over regional foe George Washington and nailed seven of her eight 3s for 23 points in a 65-50 victory over Parkersburg South.
- Adrienne Truman, Nicholas County – Nicholas finished the week 1-1 with a win against Shady Spring and a loss to Summers County. Truman scored in double figures both times with 23 coming against Summers County in an OT loss.
- Gracie Harvey, Summers County – Harvey scored in double figures twice, with 18 points in an overtime win at Nicholas County. The Lady Bobcats finished 2-0 this week.
- Preslee Treadway, Greenbrier West – West finished 1-1 but Treadway played well, scoring 17 against No. 5 James Monroe and adding a 12-point, 13-rebound performance against Pocahontas County.
- Maggie Boroski, James Monroe – Boroski helped the Lady Mavs to a 2-0 week, scoring in double figures on both occasions. The highlight was a 14-point performance against Greenbrier West.
- Kierston Rozell, Meadow Bridge – Rozell had two strong showings for the Wildcats who picked up wins on Friday and Saturday with 22 points being her weekly-high.
- Trista Lester, River View – Lester scored in double digits three times with a 32-point outing against Liberty. She earned MVP honors in her HIT game against Union.
