FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Kimberly man faces felony charges after a multi-county pursuit. Chief Deputy Rodney Perdue II provides the following information regarding this incident.
Just before 8:00 am, deputies patrolling in the Montgomery area did observe a vehicle with a driver not wearing a seatbelt; in addition, the deputies recognized the driver as an individual who was not permitted to drive in the state. When deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, it accelerated to high speeds traveling west on WV Rt 61. The pursuit lasted approximately 17 miles, ending on US Rt 60 in Belle. The driver was taken into custody without incident.
George E Legg, 58, of Kimberly, was charged with the felony offense of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Indifference and the misdemeanor offense of Driving While his License was Revoked for DUI. It was also determined that Legg had three other outstanding warrants through various jurisdictions.
Legg was transported to South Central Regional Jail to await court proceedings.
