WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A suspect has been arrested in relation to a Wednesday night incident in which shots were heard in the parking lot area of a Wheeling restaurant.
The Wheeling Police Department reports that, at around 5:27pm, police were called to Perkins Restaurant in response to several gunshots that had occurred.
A suspect, Robert Paul Thompson, 19, of Wheeling, WV, has been identified in relation to the incident.
Thompson is said to have been traveling in a car with another person and to have driven into the Perkins parking lot. Thompson exited the vehicle, and when the driver drove off, Thompson began firing shots at the car.
Thompson was then observed running through the Wheeling Tunnel, and was caught and arrested near the 10th Street parking garage downtown following a brief foot pursuit.
Authorities were able to locate a firearm on Thompson’s person. He currently faces charges of attempted murder and armed robbery in relation to the incident.
Thompson was arraigned Thursday morning by an Ohio County magistrate, who set bond at $100,000. He is currently at the Northern Regional Jail facility.

WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities are currently investigating an incident involving gunshots in a restaurant parking lot on Wednesday evening.
According to the Wheeling Police Department, 911 was called at around 5:30pm after shots were allegedly heard going off in the parking lot of Perkins Restaurant on National Road.
Multiple witnesses are said to have heard to shots in question and dialed 911.
No injuries or fatalities are reported to have occurred as a result of the incident.
Officers with the Wheeling PD report having collected several shell casings from the scene and having conducted interviews with nearby witnesses.
A person of interest is reported being interview by authorities and the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
