BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County rock quartet The Switch have been scheduled to perform at Friday in the Park in Beckley on Friday.
In a Southern West Virginia music scene that can prove difficult to detect at all, let alone break out of, Wyoming County’s The Switch have been making significant waves as of late.
The band’s modern spin on the attitude and approach of classic rock and roll, along with their assemblage of crowd-catering covers, have brought them much attention in recent months, even bringing them to the Charleston Regatta Stage last week where they left with the distinction of having best the competition in the Battle of the Bands.
The group’s ability to navigate various sonic frameworks, as well as a number of – what one could reasonably assume are – shared influences with local crowds in the form of pioneering rock acts such as AC/DC, Pink Floyd, and Guns N’ Roses, have endeared them to audiences throughout the region, as the group’s forward momentum looks only to be steadily increasing at this juncture.
Weather permitting, the group will assemble at 11:30am on Friday at Word Park for an hour-long performance.
Theatre West Virginia will also be present to offer a sneak peak at some of the music from their upcoming Rocket Boys Musical immediately following The Switch’s set.
Having just wrapped their production of Hatfields and McCoys – more on that here – the beloved local organization looks to begin their run of shows based on the best-selling memoir of Coalwood’s own Homer Hickham, with whom Theatre West Virginia has maintained a close working relationship over the years.
