BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Water Company has announced a Students’ Calendar Contest for kids grades PreK-12.
The contest calls for students to submit artwork which reflects what water means to them as it pertains to their own lives and memories, as well as how they can contribute to protecting water resources for generations going forward.
12 pieces of submitted artwork (one for each month, 3 from each category) will be featured in the Beckley Water Company’s upcoming 2023 calendar which will be received by the company’s customers.
“Water has always been a part of West Virginia history,” reads a statement released by Beckley Water Company.
“The Ohio River, Potomac River, and Tug Fork help form our borders, the state has one of the oldest rivers in the New River. Water is also important to help sustain life and has many uses such as hydration, providing life to plants to make food, and providing ponds and lakes for fishing trips.”
All entries submitted for the contest must be in 8 ½ x 11’ landscape orientation and include a completed entry form. All work must be original (does not include copyrighted characters), and students are only to submit one piece each.
The art itself can be in any medium, including pencil, paint, and digital. Submission of artwork grants Beckley Water Company consent to use said work for promotional and/or educational purposes.
There will be four categories of winners in the Students’ Calendar Contest: PreK to 2nd grade, 3rd grade to 5th grade, 6th grade to 8th grade, and 9th grade to 12th grade. The winning artist in each category will receive a $50 gift card.
Contest entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, June 1, 2022, and can also be submitted by email at contest@beckleywater.com, or by mail to Beckley Water Company, Attn: Calendar Contest, 119 S Herber St, Beckley, WV 25801.
