BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – On Tuesday, October 12, Beckley Common Council will meet to consider designating the last Saturday in October as the city’s trick-or-treat date, regardless of what day Halloween falls on.
An employee with the Mayor’s Office stated that council is considering the permanent change for several reasons.
“They’ll know going forward, and everyone will know when the city will have it do it doesn’t have to be discussed,” she said. “It allows for people to go ahead and make plans in advance.”
The City of Beckley first voted to hold the city’s 2021 trick-or-treating activities on Sunday, October 31; however, Mayor Rappold decided to change the date to Saturday, October 30 from, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Raleigh County is also holding trick-or-treating on Saturday.
If approved by council on Tuesday, the change will go into effect in October of 2022.
