BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – This weekend the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center played host to a number of guests of all shapes and sizes for the Tri-State Exotic Animal Expo.
The event, which featured birds, reptiles, mammals, arachnids, and fish, took place Saturday, September 25th, and ran from 10am to 6pm.
Children ages 12 and under were granted free admission to the event, while entry was $10 for adults. Multiple vendors were available on-site to answer any questions expo-goers had about the animals and their care. Some of the exotic animals were even made available to interact with the public, including Annie, the ring-tailed lemur, and Honey, a Burmese Python who will eventually grow to be up to 26 feet long. A number of the animals featured in the expo were members of endangered species populations. These animals require special care in their transport and presentation, and were not available for purchase. Along with the animal displays, areas were set aside for the purchase of apparel, animal care supplies, and more.
Those who purchased tickets to the event were entered in free drawings to win prizes which included a gargoyle gecko from Tesla’s Geckos, and a Banana Ball Python from Wrapped Reptiles, both local breeders who contributed to the event. The winner of the drawing for the gargoyle gecko was Jessica McComas, while Gary Ramsey went home with the Banana Ball Python.
Next, the Tri-State Exotic Animal Expo will be heading north to Kanawha County for its After Dark Halloween Special which will take place October 30th, 2021 from 4pm to 11pm at 800 Green Rd in South Charleston. The event will also include free admission for children ages 12 and under, as well as candy distribution at vendor stations, and entry to win prize giveaways for those who choose to show up in costume For more information visit the Tri-State Exotic Animal Expo Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/tristatexpowv/.
