CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The House Judiciary Committee of WV passed a bill that would clarify stalking as a form of harassment.
Senate Bill 132 was passed in the Senate on January 11, 2023, and moved through the House Judiciary Committee today, January 25, 2023. The bill clarifies that stalking is a form of harassment.
A person found guilty of stalking would be charged with a misdemeanor and would be fined no more than 1,000 dollars, confined in jail for not more than six months, or both.
If a person was convicted for more than one offense, than charges and jail time would increase.
