CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The House Judiciary Committee of WV passed a bill that would clarify stalking as a form of harassment.
Senate Bill 132 was passed in the Senate on January 11, 2023, and moved through the House Judiciary Committee today, January 25, 2023. Â The bill clarifies that stalking is a form of harassment.
A person found guilty of stalking would be charged with a misdemeanor and would be fined no more than 1,000 dollars, confined in jail for not more than six months, or both.
If a person was convicted for more than one offense, than charges and jail time would increase.
