Billy Ray Workman Sr., age 69, of Sweeneysburg, WV passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 16, 1954 in Charleston, he was the son of the late Billy Joe Workman and Cledith Taylor Workman.
Mr. Workman was a retired mechanic, and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a US Navy Veteran, and enjoyed old cars, listening to music, and spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Workman.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 27 years, Charlotte Williams Workman; six children, Stacy Duncan and husband Sammy of Sandbranch, Jennifer Wilson and companion Wyatt of Sandbranch, Alan Roark and wife Gwen of Oak Hill, Eddie Roark and companion Rebecca of Sweeneysburg, Shavanna Workman and companion Brandon Adkins of Thayer, and Billy Ray Workman Jr. and wife Meghan of Beckley. A brother, Johnny Workman and wife Connie of Maple Fork; three sisters, Connie Workman of Beckley, and Brenda Workman and companion David of Beckley, Teresa Prunest and husband Brian of Maple Fork; Nine grandchildren, Taegan, Kelvin, Kendall, Cody, Kayla, Coleson, Waylon, Maddox, and infant baby Workman on the way. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He leaves behind very special friends, Frank Clay, Clifford Jarvis, Billy Addison, and Jack Mobley, and many other friends.
The family extends special thanks to Bowers Hospice House for great care given to Mr. Workman.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11AM with Rev. Sandra Taylor and Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family members.
