BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A pair of precautionary Boil Water Advisories have been issued effective immediately by the Beckley Water Company for several areas throughout Raleigh County, including Pluto Road and Ritter Drive.
The advisories were issued on Thursday due to instances of broken main lines, and pertain to a number of locations including 206 through 218 ½ Joseph Street, 301 through 312 Ridge Avenue and 200 through 210 Railroad Avenue in Beckley, as well as Pluto Road from 110 Pluto Road to 448 Pluto including all side streets off of this section of Pluto Road, Fire Trail Road, all of Hinton Road including all side streets from Ritter Drive to the end of the Beckley Water Company system at White Oak, Flat Top Road and all side streets from Ritter Drive to the end of the Beckley Water Company system at Cool Ridge, Ritter Drive from 1165 Ritter Drive to 2974 Ritter Drive and all side streets off of this section of Ritter Drive and DC Lilly Road.
As quality testing has yet to occur to confirm whether the water in the areas is safe for consumption at this time, conditions indicate the possibility of contamination. As such, those who consume the water should not do so without first bringing it to a full boil.
Beckley Water Company has also indicated that, as of 6:00pm Thursday evening, crews are working in the Shady Spring area toward the repair of a main line break.
Those currently without water are advised to remain under a precautionary boil advisory once utilities are restored.
