SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It has been announced that Sophia Fire Department will be holding a bottled water distribution event at the Sophia station Wednesday afternoon.
Residents, community leaders, and local entities are coming together in an effort to combat widespread water outages which have plaguing the Raleigh County area throughout the week. The shortages and outages have occurred as a result to frigid weather conditions which led to several line leaks throughout the region.
Raleigh County Emergency Services announced that the Sophia Fire Department would be conducting a bottled water distribution event at the Sophia Fire Station Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
The announcement follows that of a similar water tanker distribution event being held at the Trap Hill Fire Department location as organized by Raleigh County Emergency Services and the Raleigh County Public Service District.
Raleigh County Emergency Services extended their gratitude to the Sophia Fire Department and Beckley CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) for their assistance in the implementation of the event.
The Sophia Fire Department is located at 300 W Main St, Sophia, WV by the Post Office.
