STAFFORD COUNTY, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A proposal to build a Buc-ee’s travel center in Stafford County, Virginia has cleared an initial hurdle following a narrow vote by the county’s planning commission.
The Stafford County Planning Commission voted 4-3 to approve a conditional use permit for the project, which is planned along Interstate 95 near the Courthouse Road exit.
The proposal will now move forward to the Stafford County Board of Supervisors for final consideration.
Plans for the development include a large-scale travel center featuring more than 100 fuel pumps, hundreds of parking spaces for both cars and trucks, and a sizable convenience store.
The proposal has faced multiple delays in recent months, as county officials allowed additional time for the company and developers to revise and refine their plans before the commission issued its recommendation.
If ultimately approved, the Stafford County location would become the second Buc-ee’s in Virginia.
The first Virginia site is located along Interstate 81 near James Madison University in Mount Crawford.
Another location has been approved in New Kent County along I-64.
