Obituary for Calvin M. Poff
Calvin proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He returned home and worked for Eastern Associated Coal for 18 ½ years then worked for Eastern Vault/American Block until his retirement. Throughout his life, one of his favorite past times was doing carpentry work. Calvin was a member of Weyanoke Church of God for more than 50 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Anderson and sister-in-law, Mary Poff.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Sue Lawrence Poff; sons, Lee Poff and wife Selina and Jimmy Poff and wife Karen all of Montcalm; brother, Reginald (Gene) Poff of Crestwood, Illinois; six grandchildren, Danielle, J. R., Martika, Katelyn, Seth and Ryan; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law Peggy Matthews and husband Pete of Lashmeet; brothers-in-law, Ernie Lawrence and wife Connie of Weyanoke and Marvin Lawrence and wife Brenda of Blacksburg, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Margaret Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Military Honors will be provided by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. The family extends a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their care of Calvin.
Friends may visit with the family from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11 at the funeral home.
