CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced the City of Ripley will receive $1,500,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to support Phase II of its sewer project. The project will provide reliable wastewater treatment to 309 businesses and 1,941 households, and allow for new sewer connections to support economic growth.
“In April, I visited Ripley to announce $3 million in critical federal funding I secured to help upgrade the city’s wastewater and sewer systems,”Ranking Member Capito said. “This additional support from ARC underscores what a tremendous undertaking this project is, especially as the city constructs a new treatment plant and laboratory in Phase II. An efficient wastewater system is imperative to continuing the community’s economic growth, and this funding will help in that effort.”
