CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – With an abundance of exciting public events set to make their way to the Charleston area this weekend, authorities are urging motorists and residents to exercise caution and attentiveness in the face of traffic pattern alterations facilitated to accommodate the goings on.
Live on the Levee will be attracting patrons on Friday evening, as crowds descend upon Kanawha Boulevard to take part in the festivities. As such, Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Capitol Street to Court Street, with the closure also extending to Clendenin Street in preparation for the upcoming Pride Parade Festival also scheduled to take place this weekend.
The East End Pride Pub Crawl and Drag race also set to occur on Friday will affect traffic from Lee Street to Jackson Street, Elizabeth Street, Washington Street, and East from Sidney Avenue to Maxwell Street. Detours utilizing Greenbrier Street and Morris Street can be utilized to circumvent certain closures depending upon the direction from which motorists are entering.
While Outdoor Dining on Capitol Street will impact traffic patterns for Capitol Street, from Kanawha Boulevard to Lee Street, from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening, Virginia Street and Quarrier Street will remain open.
The Pride Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, with a rolling closure of Laidley Street, from Kanawha Boulevard to Lee Street to be set into motion. While the festival will continue until the late evening, the parade is set to conclude at 12:00 noon.
