WISCONSIN (LOOTPRESS) – A Cinnabon employee in Wisconsin has been dismissed after a video capturing her directing racist remarks at two customers spread widely online, the Georgia-based chain confirmed.
In a statement shared on social media, Cinnabon said the franchise owner “immediately terminated” the worker, whose name has not been released, after reviewing the “disturbing video.” The company later reiterated to The Associated Press that the behavior shown “is entirely unacceptable and does not reflect the values of Cinnabon, our franchise partners, or the inclusive atmosphere we expect for all guests and team members.”
The TikTok video shows a white woman behind the counter yelling, cursing, and taunting the customers as one of them records. At one moment, she uses a racial slur and declares, “I am racist and I’ll say it to the whole entire world. Don’t be disrespectful.” The footage also captures her making an obscene gesture and trading insults with one of the patrons.
According to the TikTok user who posted the video, the confrontation erupted Friday at a mall in Ashwaubenon, near Green Bay, while she and her husband were taking a shopping break. She said she had ordered a caramel pecan roll and asked for additional caramel because the pastry looked under-topped. The woman began filming after the employee snapped at her and mocked her hijab, she said.
A fundraising campaign launched in support of the couple describes them as a “Black Somali Muslim couple” who were “traumatized” by the encounter. Meanwhile, a separate fundraising effort claiming to support the fired employee has raised tens of thousands of dollars. That campaign is hosted on the same Christian crowdfunding site where donors earlier this year contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to a Minnesota woman who admitted to using a racist slur against a Black child at a playground.
