DUCK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One Clay County man has been arrested after setting fire to a pickup truck.
According to a criminal complaint, on Thursday, police were dispatched to the town of Duck for a brushfire. Once police arrived on the scene, they were met by Clay County EMS workers.
From there, the EMS workers stated that they observed a male individual wearing no shirt, blue jean pants, and a straw hat, later identified as Braden Todd Wood, walk over to a pickup truck, and throw a clear gallon jug containing a brownish ni color liquid, that appeared to be gasoline, into it.
EMS workers advised this officer that upon the jug going into the pickup truck, they observed the pickup truck “combust” into flames. EMS workers then stated that they last saw Wood walk into the woods.
An officer then entered the woods in search of Wood, and after a brief search, Wood was found by the officer. Wood identified himself to the police officer and stated that he did not start the fire and was throwing water on the pickup truck.
Braden Wood was arrested on the scene and charged with 3rd Degree Arson. Wood is currently at Central Regional Jail.
