David Lee Sturgill, 71, of Beckley, beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend heard the call from Heaven’s portal and was ushered into Heaven on August 27, 2021. Born April 1, 1950 in McAlpin, WV; he was a son of the late Lawrence and Joann Biggs Sturgill. David loved golfing, and was a very avid and great golfer. He and his wife, Vicky spent their winters in Florida, where they loved to golf also. David served his country proudly and Retired from the Air National Guard. He was a Federal Mine Inspector, he loved his job. David was a member of the UMWA and a Mason, everyone that knew him loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, BJ Dickens; and a step-daughter, Carletta Pierce. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 26 years, Vicky Sturgill of Beckley; two daughters, Michelle Kremer of Salisbury, NC and Alisha Sturgill of Ft. Mill, SC; a step-daughter, Cristel Dickens of Beckley; siblings, Jeanette Cook, Harold Sturgill, and Terrie Rubeck; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a large extended family and many cherished friends. Services to celebrate the life of David Lee Sturgill will be held 1:00PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald “Doc” Adkins officiating. Following the services David will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Grandsons and Nephews will be serving as pallbearers. Charles Ward will be serving as an honorary pall-bearer. Friends may gather from 6:00PM until 9:00PM Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
