Debra “Debbie” Sue Smith, age 62, won her battle against cancer and took the hand of her Heavenly Father on June 10, 2021 at her home in Daniels, WV.
Born January 12, 1959, in Bluefield, WV, Debbie was a deeply beloved wife, mother, mamaw, sister and friend. After growing up in Bradley, Debbie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1977 and spent her life first as a homemaker, and then as a server for Ryan’s and Golden Corral in Beckley.
Debbie had a fierce love for her family, her children, and especially her grandbabies. She was always there with a hug and a smile, words of encouragement, or to act silly and make you laugh. She was a loyal sister and confidant, and a dedicated and hard worker who truly found her calling serving her customers, who quickly became her friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her husband Timothy Wayne Smith, parents, William Edmonds, Sr., and Muriel Sandra Hall Edmonds, sister Nancy Frey, and special brother-in-law Oral Plumley.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her children, Jennifer Rogers Gillian and son-in-law Stephen Gillian of Beaver, and son Thomas Rogers II (Stephanie) of Daniels. Grandchildren Autumn Rogers (Sam) of Morgantown, Ethan Rogers and Walker Smith of Surveyor, and Stevie, Christian, Emma, and Truman Gillian of Beaver. Sisters Charlotte Stover, Carole McVey (Michael), Sandy Plumley, and brother William Edmonds, Jr. (Stephanie), a dear Aunt, Donna Cline of Dublin, VA, as well as a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private celebration of Debbie’s life is planned for Tuesday, June 15th at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Cochran officiating.
Pallbearers will be Sam Brown, Stephen Gillian, Matthew Plumley, Ethan Rogers, Tommy Rogers, and Paul Stover. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Plumley, Walker Smith, and Erik Stover.
